The Motorcycle Riders Association of Australia was founded in Melbourne in May, 1978 as a non-profit, volunteer organisation working in the interests of it's Victorian members. From 2004 to 2009 there were motions to consolidate and rename as the Victorian Branch so at the 2010 AGM the name changed to MRA(Vic).The MRA(Vic) offers support to all Australian motorcyclists from social, sporting and interested clubs to any motorcycle related organsations. The MRA(Vic) is also a member of the Australian Motorcycle Council. More ..

V8 Supercar driver Mark Skaife believes parents and driving lessons should never mix

PARENTS should be barred from teaching their children to drive, as a key to improving road safety in Australia.


The family ban is part of a package proposed by Mark Skaife, who intends to turn his retirement from full-time V8 Supercar racing into a career as a safety campaigner.

Skaife has been a driver trainer for more than 15 years and a safety advocate through the Advertiser's sister newspaper, the Herald Sun in Melbourne, for more than 10, but found himself in the spotlight this week when he proposed a major safety review.

Young male motorcyclists continue to dominate the ranks of those Australians who suffer a spinal cord injury.

There were 362 cases of new spinal cord injury in 2007-08, according to latest data released by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

THE number of unsafe vehicles on Victorian roads is growing.

The Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce is so concerned it has released images of some of the worst offenders.

VACC chief executive David Purchase says the chamber's own data shows one in four Victorian vehicles is unsafe.

The Motorcycle Network uses Google Maps to mark over 1000 dealers, workshops, accessories stores, tyre, spare parts & wreckers across Australia on their website www.mcnetwork.com.au and now with the release of the new iPhone app, motorcyclists can find whatever they need quickly and easily while out and about, simply by looking up their location on their mobile.

Rider Awareness NT president Digby Hart used the start of a week dedicated to motorcycle safety to urge drivers to keep a look out for two-wheeled road users.
