A Motorcycle Council of NSW spokesman said the NSW government should recognise riders as an independent road user group.

Mr Boland-Rudder said some riders were being slugged as high as 88.9 per cent for their third party insurance after the Motor Accident Authority of NSW changes took effect on July 1.

Politics : Skaife hits speed bump
Posted by dman on 14/06/2010 7:40:00 (77 reads)

THE biggest fear with Mark Skaife's call to raise speed limits on open highways to 130 or 140km/h is that irresponsible motorists will interpret it as validation for excessive driving habits.

Some of Skaife's more realistic observations - such as the need for better driver education and more diligence in roadworthy checks - will be lost in a cloud of exhaust smoke because hoon drivers have one-track minds, and that is to go as fast along that track as they can.

Posted by dman on 14/04/2010 12:13:24 (82 reads)

VACC, the peak Automotive Industry body in Victoria, is calling for a review of the State’s vehicle registration payment system.

Currently, owners of cars, 4WD's, vans, trucks, motorcycles, prime movers and buses in Victoria have to pay one lump sum for their registration, also known as the ‘rego’, to cover a twelve month period.

Ahead of next month’s State Budget, VACC is calling on the Victorian Government to enable VicRoads, who collect the fees, to introduce a six month payment option.
